Calories-Burned-Standing-vs-Sitting
Armed with a computer monitor box, a few risers and some self-will, I’ve been standing at my desk for the better part of the past year. It’s tough when I’m tired, or stressed, or just over it, all of which occur frequently during a 40-hour work week. But I’ve done the research and hopped on the bandwagon – standing and moving around more at the office are simply good for me.

When I stand through some or most of the day, I have more energy, am more upbeat, and feel empowered talking to coworkers, since I’m standing eye-to-eye as to sitting below their line of sight. Being sedentary increases our risks for obesity and ill health, while standing makes me a happier and more productive worker. Some days or weeks, though, I do sit more than stand. Standing sometimes sucks; but for an active runner, standing up and stretching around helps my legs loosen up and prevents them from cramping, aches and pains.

Here’s a little motivation for getting up and about during your workday.
