Aloha Friday is here! And, for the umpteenth time, it is a real thing here. It’s a blissful, weight-off-your-shoulders, toes-in-the-sand, Heineken-drinking, reggae-pumping, beach-barbecuing type of feeling. It’s a beautiful thing, and I’ve never felt or seen anything quite like it.
Life in Hawaii is so much different – particularly when it comes to priorities. Building our careers, owning a house, achieving all of the generic life-goals aren’t the focus of our lives. We all are doing what we can to make just enough to be able to stay here and live the way we do when we’re not at work. The essence of Aloha Friday: work’s pau, and it’s time to go beach.
I absolutely love living here. In fact, I wish there was a stronger word than love to describe how I
feel about this magical island. I wasn’t born here, but I feel like I belong here. I fit in without even trying. I feel like I’m more me than I’ve ever been before. Obviously, paradise and aloha have brought out the best in me.
Aloha Friday is just this: you leave work, go to the beach, and spend the day blasting reggae and
sitting in the back of a truck guzzling down Heinekens and barbecuing with friends. Whether you’re in the water sliding into perfect, turquoise barrels, fishing for that night’s dinner, chasing after the surplus of gorgeous, bikini-clad females, or just kicking back, it’s a good time.
To be fair, you can do this any day or night. But now that I work a normal 40-hour week, Fridays
are always my favorite.
Have a good weekend and spread some Aloha – relax, have fun, and enjoy the beautiful earth we call home.
Aloha,
Nikki
