Happy Monday! I usually am not a big fan of Mondays, but this ones a holday! A beach, BBQ, family & friends kind of holiday at that.
I also ask that we all take a moment to thank all the brave souls that have served our country. Today, we drink & BBQ to them!
Anyways, Memorial Day BBQ’s are the kickoff of summer and the season’s slew of calorie bombs. Even if you’re vegan, potato salad, Mac salad, chips, dip & desserts are a far cry from the nourishing nosh our bodies crave. What about those of us dedicated to eating clean?

I love this picture because I’m convinced my family & friends think I’m crazy for eating clean. But you know what? After I got used to it, I fell in love with it. I love how I feel, all the energy I have, the brightness in my eyes, skin & hair. The healthiness shines right through my pores.
The only way to make clean eating work is to have a good, solid attitude. I tell people not that I don’t want whatever they’re offering, but that I don’t eat it. Surprisingly, people are rarely insulted. They’re usually curious and even ask questions. It’s a great conversation starter, and the convo is usually open & quite lovely.
To eat clean all summer, just stand your ground, be consistent, and have a mini-speech in your head so you’re prepared to defend yourself if that situation ever comes up. Which, hopefully, it won’t.
